When Scapegoating and ghosting are done by those who love you, people run to therapists, who say, "ghost them back with no contact." Erasure by people in families is a very real and prevalent event happening. This is where "self-forgetfulness", a word penned by Thomas Keller caught my attention. He quotes Soren Kierkegaard often, another that I have enjoyed to dive into in my own quest to be a peacemaker when it is so rejected. It is also where we find ourselves confronted by violence done to the soul and self-love reaching up to embrace us and make us into a prideful protected victim. Trauma speaks loudly from these moments and the advice you give regarding these things is sound and profoundly accurate. It is also 100% against anything the world will say.
